Trial and error at first, but it works well and it has been fun making little foamy drinks at home. Will be great for Christmas/winter time!
A great way to make steamed milk and foam without adding two much appliance footprint to our already cozy kitchen. Straightforward to use and clean. Even sturdier than we expected. We're still perfecting our technique, but very happy with the results so far.
We’ve had our Bellman stovetop steamer for a few weeks now. It’s been fun to figure out the right timing, temps, and pressure to make really frothy milk. After a few tries, we’ve had several successful froths!
The Bellman steamer makes very high-quality steamed milk and I love that it has the same control as a professional machine. The only real difference between this and a steam wand you'd use in a cafe is that it's slower to heat the milk, it has no ability to articulate the arm into a different position, and there's no insulation on the arm. In real world use, you don't need to move the arm to a different position, especially if you're using a 600ml pitcher like the one provided in the bundle and because you can't move the arm there's no real reason to put insulation on the arm other than safety. Also having a lower pressure during regular usage of the steamer is actually helpful for having more control over how much you aerate the milk which gives you better control over whether you're making a lot of foam for a cappuccino or just a bit for a latte. On that note, I do wish this had a pressure gauge so I wouldn't trip the safety release valve so often. Overall, it's a great piece of gear for milk steaming, especially if you only have a flair for making espresso or if you love steamed milk for your hot chocolate or matcha lattes. One tip I'd give for new users: Heat the water before putting it in the chamber if you can. You'll build up the necessary pressure so much faster and you can just microwave some water for a minute or two. It doesn't need to be boiling, but cold water will take you about 10 minutes on high power for an induction cooktop and a lot less the closer you are to boiling water.
Still learning how to use but getting better each time. Definitely an upgrade over the wand I was using.
